electricity is totally underrated.
we're now on hour 43 without power, and I'm not far from losing my mind. I can live without the TV and computer, though I do feel a bit out of touch with the world once I leave work. It's weird to be at home around 10pm, in a pitch black room, and realize you probably have to wait until tomorrow to find out if the Red Sox won. But the refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster oven, air conditioning...those come in handy during a Texas summer. So last night we collected most of the things in our fridge and packed them into coolers full of ice. Then we went out for Thai food since we obviously can't cook...and hey, any excuse to get some pad thai....
For the non-Texans, we had a wicked storm on Tuesday night that knocked power out in half a million DFW homes. There was another storm last night which I enjoyed slightly more, since I was in bed as opposed to stuck at a movie theater 30 minutes from home. That reminds me...
Mean Girls. Such a great fucking movie. Who knew? Seriously. Go see it.
This coming weekend should be full of birthdays, food, swimming, and board games. Jesus, I sound like I'm 12.
Speaking of weekends, last weekend was excellent. The Third Annual Memorial Day Bash was probably the most fun yet, solely because I wasn't sick this year. We raised $350 for a friend who lost her home in a fire, ate some incredible food thanks to friends who really know how to cook, bonded in the hot tub, drank way too many shots, found a new favorite board game, and laughed as much as always.
oh, and happy birthday chris. you're an old man, but i love you anyway.
